It’s “Share your nursery” time again, where parents take over Life Love Laura for the day with their little ones’ beautiful nurseries, tips and experiences. This week we have The L’s mum!

Hi I’m The L’s Mum and I am delighted to be involved in the “Share your nursery” series. My little one is known as Baby L and he is 8 months old. I’m a first time mum and also a Step Mum to Little L who is 9 Years old.

Being a mummy

We are probably like any normal mummy and baby, we love our cuddles and I especially like to be able to drink a cup of tea without it going cold. Baby L is currently transitioning on to solids and I am enjoying learning something new about my gorgeous little one on a daily basis. I am lucky enough to be not going back to work but I have started my own business in baby and kids clothing so that, amongst being a mummy, is keeping me busy. I absolutely love being a mummy it is the best job in the world and nothing quite prepares you for it. I think the hardest part for me is having that right balance and to not worry if I don’t get the hoover round etc.

Has becoming a mummy changed you at all?

Hmmmm I think it has in a way. I wasn’t a selfish person but I did think about myself and now I don’t remember the last time I put my needs first. Baby L and my family are the most important things to me. My parents emigrated to Australia when I was pregnant so I have found it very difficult adjusting to life without having my own mummy there for guidance but I’m lucky to have a very supportive man in my life.

The question on every new parents’ lips – how do you cope with lack of sleep?

I don’t! A strong black coffee when the day begins is my little trick but it won’t work for everyone.

Baby L’s nursery was a slightly rushed affair. At the time we were living in a different house, and our only option was for Baby L to share with Little L. As we only have Little L every other weekend it wasn’t going to be a problem however, when my parents moved they wanted me to live in their house instead, which meant that Baby L had his own room. So we started again with only a few months to go.

I wanted quite a neutral theme, even though I knew I was having a little Boy I didn’t want it all to be blue blue blue. I found a lovely bedding set from Babies R Us and pretty much based our decoration around that.

The nursery has a Winnie The Pooh theme. We bought our cot from Tesco Direct and our wardrobe and draws set is from Mothercare. The L’s Papa bought me the chair as a surprise and some good friends of ours bought us the cushion. The colour scheme is cream on all the walls apart from one feature wall.

What is your favourite part of the nursery?

I have two little features I love. One being our Aussie Rules football in the team Grandma and Granddad Australia follow, The Hawthorn based in Melbourne.  Just a little Australian touch.

I also love my feature wall, which is the work of The L’s Papa with a little help from me. The L’s Papa designed it and drew it on to the wall by hand and then we both painted it. Was two solid days of hard work but we got there and I absolutely Love it. What do you think?

Is there anything you could live without in Baby L’s Nursery?

I’m not sure there is actually as with moving towards the end of my pregnancy and designing the nursery in a short space of time I didn’t buy that much and bought as I needed really. I suppose the only thing we haven’t used is his cot mobile and to be honest I am not sure why. He always tends to be asleep before he goes into his cot so I haven’t had a need for it yet, but it matches the bedding and looks great in the room. Hopefully we will get a chance to use it soon.

Now that we have the room as it is I wouldn’t change it for the world and when another Baby comes along they will get to experience the Winnie the Pooh room to, and we’ll have to organize a big boys room for Baby L.

Thank you The L’s Mum, Baby L is such a sweetie. I absolutely adore the Winnie the Pooh wall, it’s so cute!
