Share your nursery: Hannah & Busby

by LifeLoveLaura on March 18, 2014

Welcome to this week’s “Share your nursery,” the feature where mummies and daddies offer parenting hints and tips and tell us all about their little ones’ haven! This week we have Hannah from Make, Do & Push!

Life Love Laura Share your nursery Make Do & Push!

Hi, I’m Hannah and I’m a freelance Writer living just outside of Brighton in Sussex. I live with my daughter “Busby” and my husband-to-be, Nick. I’m a huge fan of cheese, prosecco and dinosaurs.

Being a mummy

I love being a Mummy! It’s so cliche but I really feel that I’ve found my place in life. I find coping on limited sleep hard though but luckily Busby has been a pretty good sleeper.

Has becoming a mummy changed you at all?

Um… I’m definitely more patient than I was before! And a lot more selfless.

The question on all new parents’ lips – how do you cope with the lack of sleep?

As I’ve said above, Busby is a pretty good sleeper on the whole, but caffeine is my friend on the days where I have to cope on limited sleep. A few cups of tea and a can of coca cola is just the ticket!

Where did you get the inspiration for Busby’s nursery?

Our Nursery theme is “woodland” and I think I originally got the idea from some fabric I found at IKEA when I was pregnant.  On the whole, it is DIYed by my very own hands! I wish I could have painted the tree on the wall, but as we’re renting I had to settle for paper and wall stickers.

Did you decorate whilst you were expecting or did you wait until Busby arrived?

A bit of both really. We only moved in 3 weeks before Busby arrived, but I settled my nesting urges by making the bunting when I was pregnant. I did the rest when she was a teeny baby and still sleeping in our room.

Which is your favourite part of the nursery?

My favourite part of her bedroom is the picture wall, which echoes our one in the living room – I made most of the wall hangings myself.

Which items in your nursery have you found to be the most useful?

The cot! And the three chest of drawers… I know that’s four items, but she has a lot of clothes!

Is there anything in Busby’s nursery that you can live without?

We were given a second hand cot bumper, but I’ve never put it on after reading some horror stories.

If you could have one dream nursery item, what would it be?

An overnight childminder??!

Thank you Hannah and Busby! We decided not to go with a cut bumper either, the stories freaked me out! P.S. I love the picture wall, it’s so pretty. Well… it’s all so pretty! You can follow Hannah on Twitter at @theREALjeevesy. Don’t forget to stop by Make, Do and Push! too!
