It’s “Share your nursery,” where readers give tips, experiences and nursery decor inspiration. Today we have Aby from You Baby Me Mummy and her gorgeous baby girl!

Hi, I am Aby, Mummy to ‘Baby’ who is 10 months old. We live on the Hampshire/Berkshire border with Mr Hubby and our two little dogs, Lily and Lou Lou, although I am originally from ‘Up North’.

Being a mummy

Being a mum is definitely the best (but hardest) job I have ever had. I think all parents are sleep deprived, but the rewards are amazing. I love seeing the world through my little girls eyes.

Has becoming a mummy changed you at all?

My priorities have completely changed now I am a mum and I have even found a crafty side!

How do you cope with the lack of sleep?

I think you get used to it.  I used to feel awful if I had less than 8 solid hours.  Now 8 hours is a distant memory, you’re tired, but you survive and you’re only awake because your little one needs you and I don’t mind that.

Where did you get the inspiration for your nursery décor?

It wasn’t from anywhere in particular.  It was just an idea in my head, a vision of how I wanted it to be. I wanted a clean, primarily white look.  Pretty and feminine, but not overly childish.  I think there are enough ‘baby’ things in a nursery without putting teddies all over the walls.  So I made some personalised bunting to put above the window and my mum made the soft furnishings.  We selected white wooden furniture and I added a tree and bird decal (with a few additional crystals) to the one pink wall.  The idea being that Baby can grow up and still love her space.

Did you decorate whilst you were expecting or did you wait until your little one arrived?

Oh no, I am a planner, so it was all done before Baby arrived.

Which is your favourite part of your nursery?

I think it is the decal. Each leaf had to be stuck on individually, so it was a labour of love!

Which items in your nursery have you found to be the most useful?

Our Angel Care monitor, I would find it very hard to relax if I didn’t hear that constant beep.  Our white wooden rocking chair, which I got from ebay (with footstool for £20). Our pink storage cupboard from Ikea, which has shelves and trays, but can be converted to a wardrobe by changing the shelves for a pole.

Which items have you discovered to be something that you don’t really need?

We don’t actually use the footstool, mainly because the nursery is small and so it cannot be placed near the chair.

If you could have one dream nursery item, what would it be?

It wouldn’t be a specific item, it would be a larger space so we could spread her things out a little more and make it more of a fun space, maybe with the odd teepee thrown in!

Oh Aby, I would LOVE a teepee. If only I could pretend it was for Little T…! haha. Thank you for sharing Baby’s nursery.
