Holiday shopping on a budget

by LifeLoveLaura on March 25, 2013

I’m trying to enjoy the remainder of my maternity leave as much as possible so between now and returning to work in July I have a few things planned. After all, it’s not often you’re allowed to take extended time off work. On Friday night I booked flights for T and I to go and spend some time with my mum and dad whilst they’re on holiday at their home in Spain at the end of May, I can’t wait! So, the mad dash has begun to find some holiday clothes as I’m an freak who likes to be organised, leaving it til last minute won’t do! The only problem is, being on maternity means I’m not exactly flushed with cash so my mission is to find a nice but reasonably priced holiday wardrobe. Here are some finds that I’m loving  for Spring/Summer (if it ever gets here) -

VERY

Floral tunic dress – £12

Love Label leopard print ombre dress – £29

Woven stripe dress – £25

Stripe tunic dress – £12

French Connection freeway t-shirt – £25

Sequin anchor vest – £22

I have struck up a love affair with Very recently. Their clothes are such good value, you can’t go wrong really. Also, if you add a few more things than planned into your basket you don’t have to pay all at once, you can pay in instalments which is great for me at the minute. Not that I’m encouraging you to go and spend a fortune but you know what I mean! (I am a bad influence.)

H&M

Orange jersey dress – £7.99

Pink skirt – £3.99

Black tie waist top – £5

Turquoise skirt – £3.99

Pink tie waist top – £5

Blue jersey dress – £7.99

Pink ombre shoes (also available in green and yellow) – £12.99

Striped jersey dress – £7.99

Striped loafers – £14.99

As you can tell from this, I’m a bit of a bugger for buying the same things in different colours but if it looks good, why not?! I’m also well into stripes (always) and neon so H&M is perfect this spring. Price wise, it’s very kind to the credit card.

ASOS

Floral print swing dress – £25

Spot print vest – £18 (also available in Curve)

Animal print swing dress – £28

Jacquard shift dress – £45

Sequin and lace prom dress – £75

Ok, so I cheated with the last two dresses. They’re not holiday dresses nor are they suitable for budget shopping but they were too nice to shun from this post. Sequin, lace AND chevron all in one dress – buy it.

It’s pretty obvious that I’m a lover of stripes and leopard print. If you’re not then I can’t help you. I will be continuing my search for holiday stuff and will share again some time soon but for now this is enough to be getting on with. I hope it doesn’t ruin your bank balance too much.
