Katy Perry – Dark Horse

Katy Perry Dark Horse

Just like a few weeks ago on “I can’t stop listening to,” this one isn’t my choice but Little T’s. The first time he heard this song on MTV it had him literally dancing in the living room. It also kept him very happy in the car on our recent drive down to London and back! I do have to admit, it has grown on me and I now quite like it too but that’s probably because it makes Little T so smiley. Here he is busting some moves to this very song!

Last week I shared my favourite spring picks for Little T so this week I thought it’d be rude not to follow up with some spring choices for me! I’m a huge dress fan, mainly out of laziness as I can’t be bothered nor do I have the money to mess about buying tops AND trousers. With a dress you get two in one plus comfort… and it’s ALL about the comfort these days. I can’t be sitting on the floor with skinny jeans cutting into my stomach whilst bending over to change a nappy, I need stretch! This is what motherhood does to you, please tell me someone out there is with me on this one? I am especially loving the smock style dress at the moment, they hide a multitude of sins. So, here are some of my favourite dresses at the moment…

George contrast print dress £12

Asos baby deer smock dress £28

I’m sure there’ll be more added to this list once the shops fill up with more pretty summer stuff. And yes, I am aware that I dress like a child! One last thing, I also need this necklace to wear every day, with a T of course!

Hall & Oates – You Make My Dreams

Ever since my friend Phoebe from So You’re Getting Married showed me her video, “A Day in the Life of a Wedding Blogger” a couple of weeks ago, I can’t get this song out of my head. It’s so chirpy and is from one of my favourite scenes in one of my favourite films – Stepbrothers! Enough said about this one.

Do you want to go do karate in the garage??

Janelle Monae – Come Alive

Janelle Monae Come Alive

I remember being on a night shift the very first time I saw Janelle Monae. It was about 3am and we were watching some of the Glastonbury 2011 highlights when she came on and from the first few seconds she had me transfixed. I’d never seen a girl have so much fun on stage! As soon as I got home from work that morning I downloaded her album and haven’t looked back. Come Alive was my favourite performance from her Glastonbury 2011 set and it’s also my favourite song from her album The ArchAndroid. It’s another song that’s best listened to loud. She is very cool and is definitely on my “must see live before I die” list.

This is the performance that got me hooked, all ten minutes of it. I love it when artists aren’t pretentious and just enjoy themselves. She rocks!!

Jonsi – Boy Lilikoi

Life Love Laura Jonsi Boy Lilikoi

Jonsi is the vocalist from Sigur Ros. I only really know a couple of their tunes but the ones I know of are stunning. I particularly adore “Glosoli” and “Saeglopur,” tracks from the album “Takk” that I googled years ago and was instantly hooked. Everybody will know Hoppipolla, usually the song playing in the background on X-Factor when someone is spouting off their sob story. I’m not sure how Jonsi will feel about that! Only really knowing a snippet of Sigur Ros’ music, I do LOVE Joni’s solo album, “Go.” I have noticed his song ‘Go Do’ on a Philadelphia advert over the past few of months which made me dig this album back out and transfer it onto my phone to listen to on the go (I don’t even know where my iPod is any more!) This song is my favourite. It’s pretty, magical and BIG. It’s best listened to loud, preferably in the car when the sun is shining. Roll on spring!

Regina Spektor – Eet

Words can’t describe how much I love this lady. She is beautiful, she plays Steinway pianos (one of the first things I’d buy if I won the lottery), she writes gorgeous and quirky songs and she is simply amazing. I have a little bit of a girl crush on her and seeing her play at Latitude in 2009 allowed me to put a big tick on my bucket list! I adore her!

Happy Valentine’s Day

by LifeLoveLaura on February 14, 2014

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is here! Personally, I love it. No, we don’t need card companies to tell us when to shower our other halves in gaudy red love hearts and teddy bears, this display of love should happen all year round but even still, I LOVE the cards, presents and any excuse to go out for a yummy meal! It’s just a bit of fun and I LOVE VALENTINE’S DAY! There, I said it.

Life Love Laura Happy Valentine's Day

I was meant to be working today but sadly I’ve been struck down by HFMD from my little niece and it’s gross, I aren’t actually allowed to go into work with it. My twitter followers will probably be sick of hearing about it as I haven’t stopped moaning about it for three days but if you have ever suffered from it, you will understand why. So, this Valentine’s Day I’m not feeling my sexiest – I can’t even give Big or Little T a kiss for fear of passing on my lurgy! This is the hardest part to be honest, Little T keeps coming for hugs and kisses from mummy and I have to say no. It’s horrible as he doesn’t understand that mummy is poorly.

As we’ve just bought a brand new smart TV (priorities and all that), we said we wouldn’t buy Valentine’s gifts this year. We never really go all out but this year the only gift we both wanted was an ace new telly. Who said romance is dead? Gifts aside, I’m hoping my minging hands subside by tomorrow as we are supposed to be having a lovely Valentine’s lunch and Daisy walk whilst my cousin and her daughter look after Little T. T adores my cousin’s little girl so it will be a happy day for us all, my lurgy permitting!

Life Love Laura Valentine's Day Card for wife

Big T and I always do nice cards though. I love a good card! His read “For my wife, I’ve always believed with all of my heart that the dreams that we have can come true because the most wonderful dream I’ve ever had came true the day I met you.” Awwwwww. God, I’m such a sucker. My card (by my good friend I am Nat) to Big T simply says “You’re alright, you are.” A sentiment short and sweet, just like me!

Life Love Laura Happy Valentine's Day I am Nat card

So, are you a V- Day lover or hater? I’d love to know your views!

Book of Mormon – ‘Hello’

the book of mormon london

It’s well documented that Big T and I are West End Wendies and we LOVE The Book of Mormon. We saw it last May in London (read all about it here) and we’re dying to go again. We shouldn’t really listen to the soundtrack in the car with Little T around but we do and T adores the opening number, “Hello.” So much so that it’s the first song he goes for when listening to music on my phone. He especially like the doorbell noises! I have to admit, this “I can’t stop listening to…” isn’t fully my choice this time, I can’t stop listening to it because Little T won’t stop listening to it! Ah well, there could be worse songs to have on repeat.

Watch it here!
